       A two-day ski-tour from Svartárkot, the uppermost farm in Bárðardalur valley,
       to the hut Botni by the cold wells at Suðurárbotnar. Hut accommodation.

       A one-day ski-tour to the Vaðlaheiði mountain, across the Eyjafjörður fjord from Akureyri town.

15th                   A one-day ski-tour in the Eyjafjörður area, depending on snow and weather conditions.

        A one-day ski-tour, starting at the ski-hotel above Akureyri, going downhill to the main road
        NW of Akureyri.

29th                   A one day ski-tour in the Eyjafjörður area, depending on snow and weather conditions.
       Departure: 9.00 a.m.

         A fairly strenuous ski-tour through the Thorvaldsdalur valley N from Akureyri.
         Distance: approx. 24 km.

       A one-day strenuous ski-tour across the mountains between Dalvík town and the Ólafsfjörður
        valley, W of Eyjafjörður fjord, following an old route between these two communities.

        A one-day ski-tour to the Svarfaðardalur-valley, depending on snow and weather conditions.

         A two-day ski-tour to Leirdalsheiði and Hvalvatnsfjörður, north of Höfðahverfi on the east coast
         of Eyjafjörður. Hut accommodation.

                           A walking and/or ski-tour to the local mountain Súlur, SW from Akureyri.

       A strenuous one-day ski-tour to the well-known mountain Kaldbakur (1167 m) N from Akureyri,
        E of Eyjafjörður fjord.

10th                  A bird-watching trip. Departure time: to be announced.
       A good opportunity to observe waders, ducks, geese and other birds near Akureyri town.

         A one-day walking tour to the estuary of river Hörgá N from Akureyri town. 

June

 7th                      skor2.gif (1024 bytes) Waterfalls in Myrká river. Departure: 9.00 a.m.
         A one-day walking tour to observe some spectacular waterfalls in a river, which is
         a tributary to Hörgá river, W from Akureyri.

14th                  Flatey island in Skjálfandi bay. Departure time: to be announced.
       We go by boat from Húsavík town to this deserted island NW from Húsavík.
       We walk around the island, observing its bird life and the remains of the human settlement.

        A one-day walking tour to a spectacular lake in the mountains of Öxnadalur valley,
        W from Akureyri town.

         An easy walking tour to places of interest in the Akureyri area.

                          A very strenuous one-day mountain climbing tour to a well-known mountain near Eyjafjörður
                           valley, S from Akureyri town.

         A one-day walking tour, following an old route across a pass between Eyjafjörður valley and
         Fnjóskadalur valley, SE from Akureyri town. 

July

         A one-day walking tour to this well-known mountain, NW from Sauðárkrókur town in the
         Skagafjörður district.

5th                    A cycling tour to Fjótsheiði moor and Vað farm. Departure: 9.00.
       We bring the bikes to the Fljótsheiði moor, NE of Goðafoss waterfall, and cycle along a rough
       path N and W through Fossselsskógur woodland to Vað farm, then cycle back the same way.
       Distance: approx. 20 km. Own bicycles required.

      An easy walking tour to places of interest in the Akureyri area.

                          A strenuous one-day walking tour from Ólafsfjörður community across the mountains
                          to the deserted Héðinsfjörður community, returning by boat to Ólafsfjörður.

                          A one-day walking tour in the Svarfaðardalur area to a scenic lake in the Vatnsdalur valley.

                          A one-day walking tour to the spectacular pinnacles “Tröllin” (the Trolls) high up in
                          Glerárdalur valley SW from Akureyri town.

21st-27th             skor2.gif (1024 bytes)skor2.gif (1024 bytes) skor2.gif (1024 bytes) The Askja-trail. 1st tour. Departure: 4.00 pm.
                            A six-day walking tour in the lava wilderness Ódáðahraun, following the newly organised
                            route “the Askja-trail”. The evening of 21 July we drive to Þorsteinsskáli hut. Then we walk
                            via Bræðrafell hut to Dreki hut. We spend an extra day in the magnificent caldera Askja,
                            and then walk via Dyngjufell hut and Botni hut to the farm Svartárkot in Bárðardalur. A jeep
                            will ferry our food and equipment between the huts but sleeping bags and food must be
                            carried to the Bræðrafell hut and from there to the Dreki-hut. Main meals are provided
                            except in Bræðrafell hut. A strenuous tour.

      A five-day walking tour to Reykjarfjörður fjord on the NE-coast of the Vestfirðir peninsula.
         On day 1 we go by boat from Norðurfjörður in Strandir north along the coast to Reykjarfjörður
         where we camp for 4 nights. On day 2 we climb the Drangajökull glacier. On day 3 we walk
         to Þaralátursfjörður fjord. On day 3 we walk to the deserted farm in Skjaldabjarnarvík bay
         and climb the Geirólfsnúpur mountain. On day 5 we sail back to Norðurfjörður.
         A strenuous tour.

         An easy walking tour to places of interest in the Akureyri area.

                           A six-day walking tour on the “Askja-trail”, following the same schedule as for the trip

        A one-day strenuous mountain climbing tour to a well-known mountain W of Eyjafjörður
        valley, S from Akureyri town.

26th                   skor2.gif (1024 bytes)skor2.gif (1024 bytes) Þingey island. Departure: 9.00.
        A one-day walking tour to a famous island in river Skjálfandafljót, N from Goðafoss waterfall.
        The local district assembly was held on this island in the time of the Old Icelandic republic.

August

         A one-day mountain climbing tour to mount Kerling south of Akureyri, the highest peak
         of the area (1538 m). Magnificent scenery, a strenuous day.

        An easy walking tour to places of interest in the Akureyri area.

8th-10th              A jeep-tour to the Gæsavatnaleið route.
        A weekend-tour in private jeeps to the wilderness just N of Vatnajökull glacier in the southern
        most part of Ódáðahraun. Limited places available for non-jeep owners.

        A one-day very strenuous mountain walking tour to the northwestern part of the mountains
        between Eyjafjörður and Skagafjörður.

15th-16th          skor2.gif (1024 bytes)skor2.gif (1024 bytes) skor2.gif (1024 bytes)skor2.gif (1024 bytes) Herðubreið mountain. Departure: 4.00 pm.
        A two-day strenuous mountain climbing tour to mount Herðubreið in Ódáðahraun (1682 m),
        the magnificent table mountain, which in 2002 was elected Iceland's national mountain.
        On day 1 we drive to Herðubreiðarlindir and stay overnight in Þorsteinsskáli hut.
        On day 2 we climb the mountain, weather permitting.

                     A one-day easy walking tour to the southern end of Bárðardalur valley, where the
                           Skjálfandafljót river plunges in two magnificent waterfalls down into the valley.

        A one-day very strenuous walking tour to the mountains and glaciers in Skíðadalur valley,

        A one-day walking tour, following an old route across a pass, between the communities in
        Fnjóskadalur valley and Kaldakinn by Skjálfandi bay.
